When people say yoni/vagina, they are actually referring to the vulva, the outer part of the yoni. The vagina itself is the canal(hole) that connects the cervix to the vulva.
The vagina can be self cleansing but the vulva isn’t. A healthy yoni/vulva should be moderately acidic to be protected. It creates a barrier that prevents unhealthy bacteria and yeast from multiplying too quickly and causing infection.
